Because it was the long weekend and cold weather was coming our way, we decided to head up the mountain on Saturday to squeeze some fun in before it got too nasty out. We asked Kristy and Kraig and Kim to come with us and off we went.
We ended up at Silver Lake, a tiny little lake at the top of the mountain. Silver Lake is way cool because it has a boardwalk and trail that surrounds the whole lake. It makes the perfect "hike" for little legs. There are information signs about the wildlife and marshes that are fun for the older kids to read. And it is very lovely and cool for the adults. Everybody wins!
We had a really great time. We ate sandwiches and lots of Grasshopper cookies for dinner and took tons of pictures. Here are some of my favorites.
These are the signs I mentioned. Kinda fun to learn all about the life cycle of a frog.
Seeing if they can see any of the above mentioned frogs. 
Lucy LOVES to be on Kent's shoulders. She can see everything and play with his hair, (one of Lucy's passions is hair,) at the same time. She was in heaven.
Her other passion is "walking." She thinks she is so grown up and big, but she is really so funny on her wobbly little feet. 
Right by the parking lot are a bunch of huge boulders and dead trees that beg for little boys to climb on them. Here is Kaden looking tough and brave.
